Player Eligibility Information

Residency Requirements

AHYHA  player eligibility is defined by Minnesota Hockey.  Players must register and participate with the association whose boundaries incorporate the player’s residence.  The membership boundary for the AHYHA is defined by the geographic attendance boundary of Andover High School.

The AHYHA and District 10 apply rigorous verification procedures to ensure players meet association eligibility requirements. Proof of school enrollment and or residency may be requested.

Waivers may be considered in accordance with Minnesota Hockey and AHYHA policies subject to review and approval by the AHYHA Waiver Committee and District 10 Hockey.

Please consider these rules carefully when planning hockey participation.

Important Eligibility Changes

MN Hockey has made significant changes to association eligibility with the 2024 - 2025 season.  Players with residences within the Andover High School boundaries are assured eligibility.  Players with residences outside of the Andover High School boundaries that attend school within Andover may make a one-time election to play hockey with Andover at the time of registration for their first year of Squirt/10U with school waiver approval. Players younger or older than their first year of Squirt/10U will not be granted eligibility.  Players with active school waivers may be eligible to play for Andover hockey with continued enrollment at an Andover school.

Waiver Process

Players residing outside the Andover boundaries should contact their association of residence to start the waiver process.   For school waivers previously granted proof of school enrollment will be required and must be submitted prior to beginning any tryout or practice activities. This process will need to occur with each school change (ie. upon movement from elementary to middle school and middle school to high school).

If you live in the Andover High School boundaries and are waiving out of the AHYHA contact the AHYHA President to start the waiver process.
