Ice Scheduling Questionnaire

If you are a named 2010-11 Coach, please fill-out this Ice Scheduling Questionnaire. Thanks!

Ice Policies

General Information
  • After accounting for the Tryout and Evaluation hours, our available ice is approximately 50% at the Andover Community Center and 50% at other rinks.  The majority of non-ACC ice is at the Super Rink.
  • We strive to have as many home games scheduled at the Andover Community Center as possible.  As a result, each team will have a higher percentage of practice times at the Super Rink.
  • Boys and Girls High School practices and games have first priority for ice at the Andover Community Center.  The second priority is AHYHA Tournaments, Jr. Huskies and Learn to Skate.  Traveling and Mite teams have the third priority and acquire the remaining prime hours at the rink.
  • Squirts and 10U Girls average 2 practices per week
  • Peewees and 12U Girls average 3 practices per week
  • Bantams and 14U average 4 practices per week
  • Bantam A games require two (2) hours of ice and Bantam B1 and 14U require (90) minutes

Coach/Manager Information:

  • It is the responsibility of the Manager to establish a discretionary fund to purchase any extra ice for practices or scrimmages beyond the ice distributed to each team from the Association Fund.  Also, any referee fees for scrimmages need to be paid by this team discretionary fund.
  • The Ice Director is available to help identify extra ice to purchase, however it is the responsibility of the Manager to schedule and purchase the extra ice.
  • When scheduling extra on-ice activities, Managers are expected to follow MN Hockey's "Team Rest" rule.  See MN Hockey for more details.
  • It is the responsibility of the Manager to schedule referees for scrimmages.  A Scrimmage Referee Request form can be found on the D10 website
  • Games for teams are scheduled by the Ice Director at D10 scheduling events in Oct/Nov.  Coaches/Managers are expected to be available by phone and email.
  • Ice practices are scheduled in 6-8 week blocks and posted on the Team websites.  It is the responsibility of the Manager to notify the team of updates/changes.
  • It is the responsibility of the Manager to notify the Ice Director of any additional events added to the schedule.  This includes practices, dry-land, scrimmages, team events and tournaments.  This notification is needed to minimize conflicts while scheduling the practice ice blocks.
  • Non-weather related game rescheduling for Squirts/10U and up must be done through D10 with the required form and a $150 fee.  The team will be responsible for the ice unused and the new ice.  The Ice Director is available to help identify ice for rescheduling.
  • Weather related rescheduling must be done in accordance to both D10 policies and AHYHA policies.
  • The Ice Director will attempt to accommodate all scheduling requests made by the Coaches and Managers. However, due to the many constraints involved with scheduling, no request can be guaranteed.
  • Dry-land space at the the Andover Community Center Field House is available at a discounted rate of $35/hr.  Contact the Ice Director if interested.

30-60-30 practices explained

30-60-30 practices will be held at the Super Rink and the Andover Community Center.  Teams get one and half hours of ice time for only an hour's rate.  The first team skates for the first 30 minutes alone, then together for 60 minutes with the second team.  Then the second team skates alone for the last 30 minutes.

Check the team listing (below) so that you know what time your team begins practice.
